Probably one of the most popular mountains in Central Java, Mount Merbabu stands at an elevation of 3145 metres. Mount Merbabu is situated right next to Mount Merapi, and on the summit you are treated to clear views of nearby mountains like Merapi and Mount Andong.
The summit attack includes hiking up a trail covered with scree, and offers an authentic experience of volcano trekking. The general experience of the entire hike however is not too strenuous and suitable for hikers who are comfortable in hiking 5 to 7 hours a day with elevation. Mount Merbabu is also a good place to train for those who are preparing for other volcano hikes such as Mount Semeru and Mount Kerinci.

*suitable for participants who have hiked at least more than 1000mts mountains (Mt.Ophir, Gunung Nuang, Bukit Kutu, Gunung Belumut if not similar mountains). One should be able to carry at least 4-5kg daypack and hike up to 6-7hours a day for 4days of trek. Mentally should be strong enough specially on the summit day scree slope.

Day 1:
Arrive in Semarang, pick up at transfer to Homestay.
1 Night in Homestay (Homestay Accommodation & Breakfast Included)
Day 2:
Transfer to Basecamp of Mountain
Hike from basecamp to Pos 3 Campsite
Day 3:
Summit Mount Merbabu
Headback to Basecamp
Transfer back to Semarang
1 Night in Semarang (Homestay Accommodation & Breakfast Included)
Day 4:
Transfer back to Airport
Detailed Hiking Itinerary:
Day 1: Basecamp to Campsite
- 0600 – 0800: Breakfast, Prepare for Hike
- 0800 – 0830: Registration for Hike
- 0830 – 1130: Hike from basecamp to Pos 2
- 1130 – 1230: Rest & Lunch
- 1300 – 1600: Hike from Pos 3 campsite
- 1700 – 1800: Enjoy Sunset
- 1800: Set up Tent, Dinner & Rest for the night
Day 2: Campsite to Summit to Base Camp
- 0300 – 0400: Breakfast, prepare for summit attack
- 0400 – 0600: Hike to Merbabu Summit
- 0600 – 0730: Photos & Enjoy Summit
- 0730 – 0930: Descend back to campsite
- 0930 – 1100: Rest, meal & prepare to head down
- 1100 – 1430: Descend back to basecamp
- 1430 – 1600: Rest & Wash Up
- 1600 – 1900: Return back to homestay in Yogyakarta
- 1900: Shower, rest, Free & easy.
