Gunung Slamet is the second highest mountain on Java and the highest peak of Central Java. Standing at 3428 metres above sea level, the summit offers a panoramic view of surrounding mountains. In good weather, Mount Sindoro and Mount Sumbing can be seenclearly with Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu in the background. The best month to hike Mount Slamet is between May – early August.
There are various trails to the summit, but our trip will be going via the Bambangan Trail which is a popular and clean trail. The Bambangan trail has a total of 8 “Pos” or checkpoints before the summit. There are also shops along the trek at the different checkpoints which sell drinks and snacks.

Trail Difficulty: Moderate
Suitable for people who have good fitness level to walk for 6-7 hours in steep terrain. Have done some similar mountains in Indonesia like Merapi, Semeru, Rinjani or Malaysia G7 mountains.
Overview of Itinerary:
Day 1:
Arrive in Semarang, pick up at transfer to Purwokerto.
1 Night in Purwokerto (Homestay Accommodation & Breakfast Included)
Day 2:
Transfer to Basecamp of Mountain
Hike to campsite at Pos 7 (Tent Accommodation Included)
Day 3:
Summit Mount Slamet
Headback to Basecamp
Transfer back to Semarang
1 Night in Semarang (Homestay Accommodation & Breakfast Included)
Day 4:
Transfer back to Airport
Detailed Hiking Itinerary:
Day 1: Bambangan Base Camp to Camp Site
- 0800: Early start from Base Camp of Bambangan
- 0800 – 0930: Basecamp to Pos 1
- 0930 – 1100: Pos 1 to Pos 2
- 1100 – 1200: Pos 2 to Pos 3
- 1200 – 1300: Lunch at Pos 3
- 1300 – 1400: Pos 3 to Pos 4
- 1400 – 1430: Pos 4 to Pos 5
- 1430 – 1500: Pos 5 to Pos 6
- 1500 – 1530: Pos 6 to Pos 7
- 1530 – rest time: Set up tents, sleep and rest.
Day 2: Campsite to Summit to Base Camp
- 0300: Rise and Shine
