Sa Pa is a town in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains of northwestern Vietnam. A popular trekking base, it overlooks the terraced rice fields of the Muong Hoa Valley, and is near the 3,143m-tall Phang Xi Pang peak, which is climbable via a steep, multiday guided walk. Hill tribes, such as the Hmong, Tay, and Dao, make up much of the town’s local population.

Sapa is a small market town that has been a gathering spot for many local hill tribes for nearly 200 years. Hmong and Dao people, among others, still come here to conduct trade, socialize, and attend an ephemeral “love market,” where young men and women choose one another for marriage (these days, it’s unlikely you’ll see anything more than a staged re-creation of it).

The rice terraces around our Hmong Mountain Retreat are standing tall and healthy emerald, green. The local Black Hmong people in Lao Cai are resting, getting ready for the perfect time to harvest the rice.

TOUR IN DETAILS

DAY 1: HANOI ARRIVAL – NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI 

Do check with us on the flight booking and we will advise you. You can book your own flights as per the itinerary and meet up with our Local Staff at the arrival terminal of HANOI AIRPORT on the event date. Our Local Staff will meet and greet the group. From there the group will depart for the adventurous journey. (*we can arrange group pickup at same time)

• Upon arrival at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, Group you will be greeted by our staff and transferred to the train station for the night train to get to Lao Cai Station. Overnight on the train (4 person/cabin, soft sleeper).

Note: extra services for airport pick up and transfer to Hanoi, not in our package price

Activities: Welcome to Vietnam 

DAY 2: LAO CAI – SAPA – TREKKING LAO CHAI – TA VAN VILLAGES (B/L/D)

• Arrive in Lao Cai around 5.30 am.
• We will take 1hr bus ride uphill to the beautiful town of Sapa. The ride give you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces.
• Upon arrival in Sapa Town we have breakfast in a local restaurant
• 00am: Start walkin to Y Linh Ho and start trekking downhill to Muong Hoa Valley through rice paddies and small hamlets to learn the life of hill tribes here. Communication exchange with local people in Lao Chai village. Picnic lunch on the way then continuie trekking through villages and rice terraced fields to Ta Van village settled by Dzay ethnic. which is supposed to be the most beautiful one in the area. Diner and overnight with a local family in Ta Van. Overnight at homestay of the Dzay people.

DAY 3: TREKING GIANG TA CHAI – SAPA – LAO CAI – NIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI (B)

• Breakfast at hotel at homestay
• Farewelling the local family we continue to visit the Red Dao people at Giang Ta Chai where we also see a waterfall. The Red Dao women have very colourful red embroideries and coins on their clothing. On their head they wear a red scarf. Some of the women have shaved off their eyebrows because of a nice Red Zao legend. We continue along small paths in the rice fields, cross the Muong Hoa River, Supension Bridge and walk up to Supan where you will meet the driver transfer back to Sapa. Have lunch at the local restaurant

Afternoon:
+ Free to explore Sapa town
+ Take the cable car up to Fansipan to the highest mountain in Indochina. Sightseeing the view from the roof of Indochina. ( not included in tour price)

Evening: The driver picks you up and transfers you to Lao Cai Station. Then take the night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on the train (4 person/cabin, soft sleeper).

Accommodation: Overnight on the train
Activities: Free time to explore Fansipan and Sapa town 

DAY 4: ARRIVE IN HANOI EARLY MORNING 

• Arrive in Hanoi around 5 AM. The tour ends at Hanoi Railway Station. Feel free to extend your trip or head to the airport on own arrangements.

Tour package includes: 

• Train tickets: Hanoi – Lao Cai – Hanoi (soft sleeper with air-conditioning)
• 1 night at homestay
• Meals as described in the itineraries: B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner, Br = Brunch

• AC car/minivan pick up and transfer as per program
