Jiaming Lake (嘉明湖) is Taiwan’s second-highest mountain lake, and one of its biggest. It is located at a distance of 7km from the north to the south of the transverse highway and is near the boundary of Yushan National Park with an elevation of 3,310 meters. Once thought to have been created by a meteor strike some 3000 years ago, Jiaming Lake, it turns out, is actually a lot older and was formed by glacial movement during the last ice age some 6,000 – 7,000 years ago. Sunny days give this elliptical alpine lake a gem-like quality. It’s above the main treeline at 3310m, and offers good chances of spotting endemic yellow-throated martens and sambar deer.

Do check with us on the flight details before booking . All should arrive at Taoyuan Airport at the same time before 09:00am as there will be only one group pickup from the airport to hotel. Meetup with our Local Guide and depart to the hotel.
Day 1 : Airport pickup (no hiking today)

- Transfer to Chishang by TRAIN/VAN (with tour guide)
- Check-in hotel in Chishang
- Buying stuff in supermarket in Chishang
- Briefing of the hike in the evening
- Dinner at Chishang township
- Packing for the hike
