At 3,726 m, Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, second only to Mount Kerinci on Sumatra, and it dominates the landscape of the relatively small island of Lombok. Within its huge 50 km² caldera sits the crater lake Segara Anak (Child of the Sea). Eruptions within the caldera have formed a new small cone called appropriately enough, Gunung Baru (New Mountain). Segara Anak has a natural hot spring. The mountain and its satellites form the Mount Rinjani National Park (Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani) – officially 41,000 hectares within the park boundaries and a further 66,000 hectares of protected forest outside.

EVENT GRADING: MODERATE
*suitable for participants who have hiked at least more than 1000mts mountains (Mt.Ophir, Gunung Nuang, Bukit Kutu, Gunung Belumut if not similar mountains). One should be able to carry at least 4-5kg daypack and hike up to 6-7hours a day for 4days of trek. Mentally should be strong enough specially on the summit day scree slope.
DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1 / LOMBOK AIRPORT – SEMBALUN VILLAGE
Pickup by your arrival time in Lombok Airport, then transfer to Sembalun
Check in homestay then free and easy
DAY 2 / SEMBALUN – PLAWANGAN BASECAMP (B, L, D)
07.00 After breakfast, start trekking Rinjani via Sembalun Lawang
12.00 Break for having lunch around Pos 3 Sembalun
16.00 You will be in Plawangan basecamp around 4 pm then free and easy
DAY 3 / SUMMIT RINJANI – LAKE CAMPSITE (B, L, D)
01.30 Wake up then have a tea or coffee before summit attack
02.00 Start Summit to the top 3726 meters then enjoy the sunrise
07.00 Return to basecamp plawangan then have a breakfast
10.00 Trekking down to Segara Anak Lake Campsite
15.00 Free and easy at Lake Campsite (can enjoy the hot spring water)
DAY 4 / SEMBALUN LAWANG – MATARAM CITY HOTEL (B, L)
06.00 Start in the early morning after breakfast, trekking to Plawangan Sembalun
12.00 Having lunch around Pos 3 Sembalun
15.00 Finish at Sembalun Basecamp then transfer to Hotel in the city

Transfer to the airport 3 hours before departure
