Welcome to Tibet – The Roof of the World! Our tour guide will meet you at the airport or train station once you arrive. They will drive you to downtown Lhasa and then transfer you to your hotel. You’ll have a good night’s sleep there while adapting to the higher altitude. It is helpful to take things easy and drink enough water to get through the first day. You will stay overnight in Lhasa.
Please Note: The first day’s acclimatization is essential to ensure that you’re in good health for the tour which is coming soon.
Day 2 Lhasa sightseeing [B] + [D]
Today, you’ll have a tour of Lhasa’s cardinal landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is the Potala Palace. Renowned as one of the earth’s great wonders due to its extravagant architecture and the fact that it sits at an elevation of 3,700 meters, this grand palace will not disappoint you. In the afternoon, you’ll pay a visit to Jokhang Temple, which is the most essential and respected religious structure in Tibet. Thick with the smell of incense and yak butter, you’ll witness a multitude of prostrating pilgrims cramming outside the temple. The temple is the masterpiece of Tibetan, Chinese and Nepalese architectural techniques. Then you’ll take a stroll around Barkhor Street, the oldest bazaar in the city. After the sightseeing activities, you’ll enjoy a welcoming dinner gathering with all your travel mates in the group. You will stay overnight in Lhasa.

Day 3 Lhasa Sightseeing [B]
In the morning, you’ll visit the Drepung Monastery (founded in 1416) on the Gambo Utse Mountain. This place was once the world’s largest monastery with about 10,000 monks at its peak, and it was one of the “great three” Gelugpa schools in Lhasa. It is pleasant to walk up the hill, as it is a leisurely break from the solemn ambience inside the halls and chapels. On the flat roof of the hillside, there are great views of the entire city of Lhasa and its distant mountains. In the afternoon, you’ll have a chance to witness the famous ‘Buddhism Sutra Debate’ session at the Sera Monastery (founded in 1419). This session takes place at 3:00 PM every day, except on Sunday. You will stay overnight in Lhasa.

Then stop at the Karo-La Pass to experience an unforgettable view of pincer-shaped Yamdrok and the fantastic spectacle of Mt. Noijin Kangsang, which are the two great wonders of the day. Mt. Noijin Kangtsang backs the staggering Karo-la Glacier [5045m].
