Tour Overview

The Druk Path Trek is one of Bhutan’s most popular and scenic trekking routes, offering a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and nature. Traversing from Paro to Thimphu, this moderate trek covers approximately 50 km over 5 to 6 days, taking trekkers through pristine forests, alpine meadows, sacred lakes, and high mountain passes with sweeping Himalayan views.

Along the route, participants will experience cultural immersion through ancient monasteries, dzongs, and local villages, while enjoying breathtaking vistas of Bhutan’s sacred peaks such as Mount Jomolhari and Gangkar Puensum. The journey combines adventure with serenity, ideal for those seeking both physical challenge and cultural enrichment.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1 – Arrive Paro

Arrive in Paro by DrukAir/Bhutan Airlines. After immigration formalities, meet your guide and transfer to hotel.
Sightseeing:

  • National Museum (Ta Dzong)

  • Rinpung Dzong & Cantilever Bridge
    Evening: Stroll around Paro town and local handicraft shops.
    Overnight: Paro


Day 2 – Acclimatization Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) – 3-4 hrs round trip.
Visit the monastery and enjoy breathtaking views of Paro Valley.
Overnight: Paro


Day 3 – [Trek Begins] Paro → Jele Dzong → Jangchulakha (3770m)

Trek starts after breakfast. The trail ascends through pine forests to Jele Dzong and continues to the Jangchulakha campsite.
Distance: 15km | Time: 6-7 hrs | Ascent: 1,350m
Overnight: Full-service outdoor camping at Jangchulakha


Day 4 – Jangchulakha → Jimilang Tsho (3870m)

Hike along scenic ridges with mountain views to Jimilang Tsho Lake, famous for giant trout.
Distance: 11km | Time: 4-5 hrs | Ascent: 330m
Overnight: Camping near Jimilang Tsho


Day 5 – Jimilang Tsho → Simkotra Tsho (4110m)

Trail passes dwarf rhododendrons and yak herder camps before reaching Simkotra Tsho.
Distance: 11km | Time: 5-6 hrs | Ascent: 820m
Overnight: Camping near Simkotra Tsho


Day 6 – [Trek Ends] Simkotra Tsho → Phajodhing → Thimphu (2334m)

Gradual climb followed by descent to Thimphu through Phajoding Monastery.
Distance: 15km | Time: 6-7 hrs | Ascent: 130m | Descent: 1100m
Evening leisure and visit Craft Bazaar.
Overnight: Thimphu


Day 7 – Thimphu Sightseeing

Visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma), Takin Preserve, Weaving Center, Institute for Zorig Chusum, Textile Museum, Weekend Market & Tashichhoe Dzong.
Overnight: Thimphu


Day 8 – Thimphu → Punakha

Drive via Dochula Pass (3,140m) with Himalayan views. Visit 108 Chortens, Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, Chhimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple), and Punakha Dzong. Walk across the Suspension Bridge and explore local villages.
Overnight: Punakha


Day 9 – Punakha Short Hike & Local Sightseeing

Morning hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten.
Afternoon visit Limbukha Village and rice terraces.
Overnight: Punakha


Day 10 – Punakha → Paro

Drive back to Paro (~4 hrs). Visit Tamchog Lhakhang Bridge, Paro Airport viewpoint, and National Museum.
Evening leisure walk in Paro town.
Overnight: Paro


Day 11 – Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure.

Once the tour has commenced, no refund shall be made for any portion of the trip not utilized by the participant. This includes, but is not limited to, services such as accommodation, transport, meals, or trekking arrangements that are unused due to personal reasons, illness, or early departure.

In the event that the tour or any part thereof must be cancelled, delayed, or altered due to Force Majeure conditions — including but not limited to adverse weather, natural disasters, flight disruptions, political unrest, or any other circumstances beyond the operator’s control —

  • The full tour amount is strictly non-refundable.
  • Every effort will be made to modify or reschedule the affected portion of the itinerary in coordination with local authorities and service providers.
  • Any additional costs arising from such changes (e.g., extended stays, alternative transport, or revised logistics) shall be borne by the participants.
