Detailed Itinerary: Golden Eagle Festival Mongolia 2026
Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Welcome to Ulaanbaatar – the capital and cultural heart of Mongolia. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in before we begin our journey to the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue at Tsonjin Boldog. Standing 40 meters tall and made of 250 tons of stainless steel, this magnificent monument is one of Mongolia’s most iconic landmarks.
During the day, gain an introduction to Mongolia’s rich history, culture, traditions, and local cuisine.

Day 2: Domestic Flight to Bayan-Ulgii Province
After breakfast, take a domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Ulgii City, the capital of Bayan-Ulgii province – the westernmost region of Mongolia and home to the Kazakh ethnic group.
Upon arrival, meet the rest of the group and drive approximately one hour to the South River Camp for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, visit Bazarbai and Talap’s family, renowned Eagle Hunters, to experience their nomadic way of life and learn the ancient art of hunting with golden eagles. Enjoy tea time, photo opportunities, and try your hand at traditional archery.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Days 3–4: The Golden Eagle Festival
These two days mark the highlight of your adventure – the spectacular Golden Eagle Festival.
Travel alongside your Eagle Hunter to the festival grounds and witness the grand gathering of Kazakh Eagle Hunters from across the region. With over 400 active hunters in Bayan-Ulgii, this is the world’s largest congregation of its kind.
Watch as these majestic birds compete in thrilling displays of speed, precision, and partnership.
Enjoy a series of Kazakh traditional games, including horse racing, wrestling, and coin-picking on horseback, followed by a traditional Kazakh concert in the evening.

Day 5: Experience the Nomadic Lifestyle
After breakfast, return to Bazarbai’s family and join the local horse rangers for a horseback excursion into the mountains, witnessing firsthand how Eagle Hunters train and hunt with their eagles.
In the evening, return to camp for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Visit to Sagsai Village & Nomadic Family Stay
After breakfast, drive to Sagsai village to visit Saldat’s family, another skilled Eagle Hunter. Participate in a photo shoot session and explore nearby sites, including ancient Balbal stones (stone figures carved by early nomadic tribes).
Enjoy a traditional lunch with the family before returning to camp in the evening.

Day 7: Hovd City & Traditional Throat Singing
Today we journey to Hovd City to witness an exclusive performance of traditional Mongolian throat singing – a unique art form passed down through generations. Explore the city and its surroundings before checking into your hotel.

Day 8: Drive to Ulgii City
After breakfast, drive back to Ulgii, enjoying the vast and beautiful Mongolian steppes en route.
Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst nature, then continue to Ulgii for hotel check-in. Later, visit local markets for some shopping and cultural exploration.

Day 9: Flight to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, fly back to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Mongolian restaurant, celebrating the memories of your journey.

Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

Once the tour has commenced, no refund shall be made for any portion of the trip not utilized by the participant. This includes, but is not limited to, services such as accommodation, transport, meals, or trekking arrangements that are unused due to personal reasons, illness, or early departure.
In the event that the tour or any part thereof must be cancelled, delayed, or altered due to Force Majeure conditions — including but not limited to adverse weather, natural disasters, flight disruptions, political unrest, or any other circumstances beyond the operator’s control —
- The full tour amount is strictly non-refundable.
- Every effort will be made to modify or reschedule the affected portion of the itinerary in coordination with local authorities and service providers.
- Any additional costs arising from such changes (e.g., extended stays, alternative transport, or revised logistics) shall be borne by the participants.
