🌄 Overview

Gunung Brinchang Barat is one of the hidden gems of Cameron Highlands. Standing at 2,031 meters above sea level, this peak offers hikers a scenic and refreshing trek through lush montane forest, mossy jungle terrain, and panoramic viewpoints. Despite its high elevation, the hike is relatively beginner-friendly, making it an ideal experience for anyone wanting to explore the pristine highland rainforest and escape the tropical heat.

This hike takes you deep into the mystical Mossy Forest ecosystem—an enchanting, mist-covered jungle teeming with orchids, ferns, pitcher plants, and ancient trees cloaked in thick moss.

  • Trail Name: Gunung Brinchang Barat via Jungle Trail #1
  • Trail Type: Out-and-back loop
  • Distance: Approx. 6 KM round trip
  • Duration: 5.5 hours (average pace, including breaks)
  • Elevation: 2,031 meters
  • Ascent Time: ~2 hours 30 minutes
  • Descent Time: ~1 hour 45 minutes
  • Trail Difficulty: 🟢 Moderate (5/10) – Suitable for participant with good fitness, You should have hiked Belumut, Angsi, Datuk, Panti etc or similar treks.

🥾 What to Expect on the Trail

  • Terrain: Well-marked trail through dense jungle, mossy forest paths, and some muddy patches (especially after rain).
  • Trail Markings: Clear checkpoints and trail signs along the way. Navigation is straightforward if you follow the path closely.
  • Flora & Fauna: Expect to see moss-covered trees, pitcher plants, wild orchids, and possibly highland birds and small mammals.
  • Summit View: The summit offers a peaceful resting spot with sweeping views of the surrounding mountain ranges and valleys — a stunning photo opportunity.

Participants should be fit enough to trek on average of 6-7hours on moderate terrain. Should have prior hiking experience on Malaysia trails. Physically and mentally should be well prepared.

Detailed Itinerary

04 July 2025 – Day 1 : Meetup and Drive to Cameron Highlands

08.00pm Meetup with SGTREK LEADER and Attendance / Briefing on Friday night

Take transport to Cameron Highlands (we will take a few stops for breaks along the way for break)

05 July 2025 – Day 2 : Meetup Guides / Start Hike

Early morning we will arrive at Cameroon Highland and Meetup with the Local Guides/Team.

(*prior to that ensure to pack you breakfast & lunchpack on own)

Below is estimated Rough Itinerary Plans: (*subjective to change on the weather conditions)

8:30 AM            Meet-up at Cameron for 4WD pickup

9:15 AM            Arrival at trailhead → Briefing & Start Trekking

12:30 PM         Reach Gunung Brinchang Barat Peak (Summit break & photo session)

2:00 PM            Continue trek toward Brinchang Peak via Mossy Forest entry

4:00 PM            Arrive at Brinchang Peak (Mossy Forest starting point) Rest & wait for 4WD pickup

4:30 PM            Return to Cameron by 4WD & dismiss

06:00 PM          End Of Adventurous Hike.

  • End of hike and drive back to Cameron Highlands
  • Check-in Accommodation (Sharing basis twin/tripple) – Accommodation
  • Shower & get fresh!
  • FREE & EASY rest of the time

06 July 2025 – Day 3 : Free & Easy – Drive back Singapore

  • 07:00am – Wake up early and walk around (Breakfast on own)
  • 10:00am – Check out and will head back Singapore.
  • (Lunch/Dinner stopover along the route – own cost)
  • 11.00pm Estimated Arrival Singapore.

2) Once the permit is applied there shall be no refund or transfer of the slot is allowed.

  • Please alert with the information during briefing session.
  • Cut of time to return (12:30pm).
  • If exceed from the COT, participant need to return back to Mossy Forest Entrance.
