🌄 Overview

Gunung Brinchang Barat is one of the hidden gems of Cameron Highlands. Standing at 2,031 meters above sea level, this peak offers hikers a scenic and refreshing trek through lush montane forest, mossy jungle terrain, and panoramic viewpoints. Despite its high elevation, the hike is relatively beginner-friendly, making it an ideal experience for anyone wanting to explore the pristine highland rainforest and escape the tropical heat.

This hike takes you deep into the mystical Mossy Forest ecosystem—an enchanting, mist-covered jungle teeming with orchids, ferns, pitcher plants, and ancient trees cloaked in thick moss.

NOTE: ONLY 14 Permits are available for this event. Book Earlier.

Daily Hiking Permits are limited, so do book early to secure your slots for the event. Event is subjective to permits approval and registration will be closed 1month before event date or until the permits are fully finished.

🧭 Trail Details

  • Trail Name: Gunung Brinchang Barat via Jungle Trail #1
  • Trail Type: Out-and-back loop
  • Distance: Approx. 6 KM round trip
  • Duration: 5.5 hours (average pace, including breaks)
  • Elevation: 2,031 meters
  • Ascent Time: ~2 hours 30 minutes
  • Descent Time: ~1 hour 45 minutes
  • Trail Difficulty: 🟢 Moderate (5/10) – Suitable for participant with good fitness, You should have hiked Belumut, Angsi, Datuk, Panti etc or similar treks.

🥾 What to Expect on the Trail

  • Terrain: Well-marked trail through dense jungle, mossy forest paths, and some muddy patches (especially after rain).
  • Trail Markings: Clear checkpoints and trail signs along the way. Navigation is straightforward if you follow the path closely.
  • Flora & Fauna: Expect to see moss-covered trees, pitcher plants, wild orchids, and possibly highland birds and small mammals.
  • Summit View: The summit offers a peaceful resting spot with sweeping views of the surrounding mountain ranges and valleys — a stunning photo opportunity.

Participants should be fit enough to trek on average of 6-7hours on moderate terrain. Should have prior hiking experience on Malaysia trails. Physically and mentally should be well prepared.

19 Sep 2025 – Day 1 : Meetup and Drive to Cameron Highlands

09.00pm Meetup with SGTREK LEADER and Attendance / Briefing on Friday night

Take transport to Cameron Highlands (we will take a few stops for breaks along the way)

20 Sep 2025 – Day 2 : Meetup Guides / Start Hike

Early morning we will arrive at Cameroon Highland – We will head to break fast first and Meetup with the Local Guides/Team.

08:00am – Meeting point (Brinchang) (Packed lunch pack will be issued)

  • 08:15 am – Departing from Kampung Melayu
  • 08:30 am – Registeration ticket @ Briefing & set sail
  • 09:30 am – Checkpoint Pak Mat
  • 10:15 am – Checkpoint Malta
  • 10:30 am – Checkpoint Utem
  • 11:00 am – Checkpoint UiTM
  • 11:45 am – Arrival at Brinchang peak
  • 01:15 pm – Start descend
  • 02:00 pm – Simpang Y
  • 03:30 pm – End point Kampung Melayu
  • 04:00 PM – End Of Adventurous Hike.
  • Check-in Accommodation (Sharing basis twin/tripple) – Accommodation

21 Sep 2025 – Day 3 : Free & Easy – Drive back Singapore

  • 07:00am – Wake up early and walk around (Breakfast on own)
  • 09:00am-10:00am – Check out and will head back Singapore. If we have time we will stop our Tea Plantation and Waterfalls along the way
  • (Lunch/Dinner stopover along the route – own cost)
  • 10:00pm-11.00pm Estimated Arrival Singapore.
