K2 BASE CAMP CONCORDIA TREK
Concordia is located in the northwest end of the Baltoro glacier, surrounded by the Abruzzi and Goodwin Austin glaciers, at an elevation of 4600m. This breathtaking location is encircled by some of the world’s highest peaks, including K-2 (8611m), Broad Peak (8047m), Gasherbrum I (8068m), Gasherbrum II (8035m), Gasherbrum IV (7925m), Saltoro Kangri (7742m), Chogolisa (7668m), Chogolisa II (7654m), Baltoro Kangri (7463m), Sia Kangri (7442m), Masherbrum Groups (7821m), Muztagh Tower (7272m), and the Baltoro Cathedral of Uhli and Trango groups ranging from 5500m to 6700m.
The trek to Concordia begins at Askoli, the last village of the Shigar valley. The inhabitants are Balti of Kirgis origin, and there is a legend that the area was once accessible from Muztagh Pass to Yarkand in the north of China, although this route has been blocked for several decades.
The trek follows traditional stages set by expeditions and the Ministry of Tourism, starting from Askoli to Jhola, crossing Bardumal at the foot of the Biafo glacier, and walking along the right bank of the Braldu river to cross a footbridge over the Domordu River before camping north of the Domordu valley. As you traverse the Baltoro glacier, the panoramic views will captivate your soul.
