Starting from the remote Lemosho Gate, the route takes you through lush montane rainforest, open moorland, the spectacular Shira Plateau and high-altitude volcanic landscapes before reaching the dramatic Barranco Valley and the alpine desert around Barafu Camp.

The ultimate challenge comes on Summit Day, when we begin our ascent around midnight and make our way towards Stella Point at 5,739m, before continuing to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN TANZANIA

Kilimanjaro International Airport → Moshi

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Our team will meet and greet you at the airport before transferring you to Moshi for hotel check-in.

After settling in, you will have time to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.

A mountain briefing and complete equipment inspection will be conducted before your climb, giving you the opportunity to ensure that your essential equipment is ready for the mountain.

Overnight: Keys Hotel, Moshi or similar

DAY 2 – INTO THE KILIMANJARO WILDERNESS

Lemosho Gate (2,100m) → Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m)

After breakfast, we transfer to Lemosho Gate, where registration and park formalities will be completed.

The trek begins through the beautiful montane rainforest, surrounded by lush vegetation and the natural atmosphere of Kilimanjaro.

This first trekking day provides a gentle introduction to the mountain as we gradually gain elevation.

Distance: Approximately 7km
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Starting Elevation: 2,100m
Camp Elevation: 2,650m

Overnight: Mti Mkubwa Camp

DAY 3 – FROM FOREST TO MOORLAND

Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m) → Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

Today the landscape begins to change dramatically.

We continue through the upper forest before emerging into open moorland, with increasingly expansive views across the Shira Plateau and its volcanic formations.

The changing scenery is one of the highlights of the Lemosho approach.

Trekking Time: 5–6 hours
Starting Elevation: 2,650m
Camp Elevation: 3,610m

Overnight: Shira 1 Camp

DAY 4 – ACROSS THE SHIRA PLATEAU

Shira 1 Camp (3,610m) → Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

We continue across the spectacular Shira Plateau, walking through open moorland and high-altitude meadows.

Today’s relatively steady pace provides valuable time for the body to adjust to the increasing altitude.

Enjoy the dramatic mountain surroundings as Kilimanjaro’s high-altitude environment begins to reveal itself.

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Starting Elevation: 3,610m
Camp Elevation: 3,850m

Overnight: Shira 2 Camp

DAY 5 – CLIMB HIGH, SLEEP LOW

Shira 2 Camp (3,850m) → Lava Tower (4,600m) → Barranco Camp (3,950m)

One of the most important acclimatization days of the expedition.

We gradually climb towards Lava Tower at 4,600m, experiencing the dramatic high-altitude volcanic landscape before descending into the magnificent Barranco Valley.

The principle of “climb high, sleep low” makes this an important part of the acclimatization process.

The day’s changing elevation also gives you a real taste of the challenges and rewards of high-altitude trekking.

Distance: Approximately 10–11km
Trekking Time: 6–8 hours
Highest Point: Lava Tower – 4,600m
Camp Elevation: Barranco Camp – 3,950m

Overnight: Barranco Camp

DAY 6 – THE ICONIC BARRANCO WALL

Barranco Camp (3,950m) → Karanga Camp (3,995m)

Today begins with one of the most memorable sections of the route—the ascent of the Barranco Wall.

After climbing the wall, we continue across a series of valleys before descending into Karanga Valley and ascending again towards camp.

The day’s distance is relatively short compared with some other trekking days, allowing you to focus on the terrain, altitude and preparation for the summit stages ahead.

Distance: Approximately 5–6km
Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Starting Elevation: 3,950m
Camp Elevation: 3,995m

Overnight: Karanga Camp

DAY 7 – TOWARDS THE SUMMIT

Karanga Camp (3,995m) → Barafu Camp (4,640m)

Today we enter the alpine desert as the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and sparse.

We ascend towards Barafu Camp at 4,640m, the final camp before the summit attempt.

Once at camp, the focus turns towards the biggest challenge of the expedition.

After an early dinner, you will rest and prepare your equipment for the midnight summit departure.

Get your layers ready. Check your headlamp. Organise your summit pack.

Tomorrow, the journey reaches its highest point.

Distance: Approximately 4–5km
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Camp Elevation: 4,640m

Overnight: Barafu Camp

DAY 8 – SUMMIT DAY

BARAFU CAMP → STELLA POINT → UHURU PEAK → MILLENNIUM CAMP

THE DAY YOU HAVE BEEN TRAINING FOR

The summit attempt begins at approximately midnight.

Under the night sky, we begin the demanding ascent towards Stella Point at 5,739m.

From Stella Point, we continue along the crater rim towards the ultimate objective:

Standing at Uhuru Peak is the defining moment of the expedition.

Take in the achievement, the extraordinary surroundings and the feeling of having reached the highest point in Africa.

After the summit experience, we begin the descent through Barafu before continuing towards Millennium Camp at approximately 3,950m.

Ascent: Approximately 6–8 hours
Descent: Approximately 4–6 hours
Summit: Uhuru Peak – 5,895m
Stella Point: 5,739m
Overnight: Millennium Camp

This is the summit day. One mountain. One extraordinary achievement.

DAY 9 – FINAL DESCENT

Millennium Camp (3,950m) → Mweka Gate (1,630m) → Moshi

After the exhilaration of summit day, we begin our final descent.

The trail takes us once again through the rainforest as we make our way towards Mweka Gate at 1,630m.

At the gate, we complete the required park formalities and receive the Kilimanjaro summit certificate.

We then transfer back to Moshi for a well-earned rest at the hotel.

Mweka Gate: 1,630m

DAY 10 – DEPARTURE FROM TANZANIA

Moshi → Kilimanjaro International Airport

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before check-out.

A scheduled transfer will take you from Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.

Your Kilimanjaro adventure comes to an end—but the memories of standing at 5,895 metres will stay with you long after you leave Tanzania.

DAY 10 – BACK TO SINGAPORE
