Congratulations to all the participants who have completed our FIRST round of SINGAPORE ROUND ISLAND ROUTE. For those who are not sure what ROUND ISLAND RIOUTE is do read through the blog below.
As announced by NPARKS, The Round Island Route (RIR) is a continuous 150 km park connector that goes around Singapore. It will complement the existing Park Connector Network, connecting existing natural, cultural, historical, and recreational sites and linking communities together. It will provide opportunities for recreational activities such as cycling, skating, jogging, and hiking. These connections and activities will enhance our ‘City in Nature’ experience for all residents. With a large interlinking network of park connectors, you can easily park hop while indulging in various fun and recreational activities. (Credits-NPARKS)
Having stuck in Singapore with travel ban due to covid19 pandemic left most of us stranded here with no overseas adventures since March2020. First 3months life was hard just staying home missing all the adventures. As govt. eased the restrictions in July, we thought we could plan something exciting for our community members as they needed to get back to adventure life again. It was time to motivate and promote some healthy lifestyle to all the community members.
Having organized 50km walks regularly and the 100km walk which got 150pax signed up one of the largest events so far. We thought what would be more challenging but doable for all the participants was the ROUND ISLAND ROUTE a 150km walk in a month time, with some little adventure along the route. So, after a month of planning the routes, google maps and to make it much more exciting we placed 15checkpoint on various locations along the route. Where participants would need to record the GPS route and take a selfie on all the 15Checkpoints which will be used as verification to complete the entire walk.
Our goals were simple for this RIR 150km Walk:
- We wanted more people to get outdoors and lead a healthy lifestyle
- We wanted people to explore more remote parts of Singapore through this walk
- Bring people from different background, culture and countries get them to meet more like-minded people along this journey
- Make this event a “WALK TO REMEMBER”
PLAN – CHECKPOINTS – REWARDS

Once the event was launched, quite surprisingly we saw the numbers jumping for signup daily from 100 to 500+. It was a good sign seeing the number of people taking up outdoor walks and keeping them fit during this pandemic situation.
MEMORIES ARE MADE THOUGH THIS WALK
Journey of 150km has a lot of stories to tell and people have made a memorable memory through this walk. The pain, the blisters, the rain, the sleepless nights, and the friendship which has been made during the walk makes this event “A WALK TO REMEMBER”
