DETAILED DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 – Arrival in Addis Ababa | City Tour

Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to hotel. After breakfast, visit:

Mount Entoto & Minilik II Church
Institute of Ethiopian Studies
National Museum (see “Lucy” fossil replica)
George Cathedral
Trinity Cathedral (tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie & Empress)
Merkato – Africa’s largest open market
Overnight: Swiss Inn Nexus Hotel

Day 2 – Addis Ababa → Gondar → Debark → Sankaber (Simien NP)

Fly to Gondar. Meet trekking team and drive to Debark for permits. Explore local market. Continue to Simien Mountains Park Gate and proceed to Sankaber Campsite.
Short introductory trek.
Overnight: Camping (Sankaber)

Day 3 – Trek Sankaber → Geech (3,600m) | 6–7 hrs

Trek along dramatic escarpments with views 800m below. Highlights:

Giant Heather & endemic flora
Gelada Baboon troops
500m Jinba Waterfall
Picnic by Jinba River
Visit Geech village for traditional coffee.
Optional sunset hike to Kedadit viewpoint (3,786m).
Overnight: Geech Campsite

Day 4 – Geech → Mount Emet Gogo → Seha Valley → Kedadit | 5–6 hrs

Sunrise at Geech. Trek to the stunning Emet Gogo viewpoint, offering 360° panoramas.
Descend to Seha Valley for lunch and continue to Kedadit viewpoint before returning to camp.
Overnight: Geech Campsite

Day 5 – Geech → Mount Enatye (4,070m) → Cheneck (3,620m)

Ascend Mount Enatye with magnificent vertical drop views, among the best in the park.
After lunch, descend through open grasslands and Giant Lobelia forest to Cheneck campsite—famous for wildlife, especially Walia Ibex.
Overnight: Cheneck Campsite

Day 6 – Cheneck → Mount Buhait Pass → Ambiko (3,200m) | 9–10 hrs

Longest trekking day (25km). Highlights:

600m ascent to Buhait Pass
Descent into Chiroleba village
Trek along Meshea River at 2,750m
Arrival at Ambiko, base camp for Mount Ras Dejen
Overnight: Ambiko Campsite

Day 7 – SUMMIT DAY: Mount Ras Dejen (4,543m) → Ambiko | 10–11 hrs

Early start at 4am. Ascend via zigzag trails used by locals.
Highlights:

Glacier-era rock formations (20,000–14,000 years old)
Challenging ascent to Ethiopia’s highest peak
Majestic views spanning over 10,000 sq km
Return to Ambiko.
Overnight: Ambiko Campsite

Day 8 – Ambiko → Chiroleba → Gondar

Short trek to Chiroleba (3 hrs) then drive to Gondar.
Overnight: Haile Resort Gondar

Day 9 – Gondar → Lalibela | First Cluster of Rock-Hewn Churches

Fly to Lalibela and visit the northern cluster of 6 churches:

Overnight: Mountain View Hotel

Day 10 – Lalibela | Second Cluster & Bet Giyorgis

Afternoon visit to the southern cluster:

Bet Gabriel-Rufa’el
Overnight: Mountain View Hotel

Day 11 – Lalibela → Addis Ababa | City Tour

Fly to Addis, continue with city tour.
Overnight: Swiss Inn Nexus Hotel

Day 12 – Addis Ababa → Departure

Based on the Flight Timing We will arrange group airport transfer
Transfer to airport for departure.
End of the awesome adventure.

Ethiopia Entry Requirements (General Travelers)

✅ 1. Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
Must have at least 1 blank page for entry stamps.

✅ 2. Visa Requirement

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Ethiopia.

Options:

a) e-Visa (Recommended)

You can apply online before arrival:

Tourist visas typically available for 30 or 90 days
Single-entry visa is standard
Processing time: typically 3–5 days

b) Visa on Arrival (VOA)

Available at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport for many nationalities.
However, e-Visa is strongly preferred for faster entry.

✅ 3. Yellow Fever Requirements

Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is required if arriving from or transiting through a Yellow Fever–risk country.
Important for travelers returning to Singapore:
Singapore may require you to show the certificate if you have visited Ethiopia.

✅ 4. COVID-19 Requirements

As of current updates:

No PCR test required
No vaccination certificate required
No quarantine
(Subject to change depending on global health situations)

✅ 5. Currency Regulations

You cannot freely exchange Ethiopian Birr outside the country.
Bring USD cash (new notes preferred, post-2009 series).
Credit cards accepted only in larger hotels.

✅ 6. Travel Insurance

Mandatory for trekking and adventure tours (for most tour operators)

For Ethiopian Airlines domestic flights:
