📅 Detailed Itinerary – 6D5N Fansipan Summit & Sapa Trekking – Diwali Special Edition
Day 1 – Singapore ✈ Hanoi – Overnight Train to Sapa
Your adventure begins as you fly from Singapore to the vibrant capital of Vietnam – Hanoi. Upon arrival, our friendly local team will greet you at the airport and whisk you away to Hanoi’s historic railway station.
At 9:00 PM, board the overnight soft-sleeper train to Lao Cai. The rhythmic chug of the train and gentle sway of the carriage sets the tone for the mountain journey ahead. Settle into your 4-berth cabin and enjoy the night views of rural Vietnam passing by.

Day 2 – Arrival in Sapa – Trek to Fansipan Mountain Hut
Fansipan Trail Head
Wake up early as the train arrives in Lao Cai around 5:30 AM. From here, enjoy a scenic 1-hour drive uphill to Sapa, watching mist drift over emerald rice terraces. After breakfast in Sapa Town, we’ll transfer to Heaven’s Gate (2,047m) – the starting point of our Fansipan climb.
Our trek begins through lush bamboo forests and along rugged mountain trails. At 2,200m, we’ll break for lunch before continuing upward through clouds and pine-covered slopes until reaching Fansipan Basecamp at 2,800m.
Dinner will be served at camp before we turn in for the night, ready for tomorrow’s summit push.

Trekking Distance: ~8km | 5–6 hrs | Elevation gain: +753m
Day 3 – Summit Fansipan – Cable Car Down – Hotel Stay in Sapa
The big day! After an early breakfast, we set off on the final ascent to 3,134m, the Roof of Indochina. As the sun rises, the mist parts to reveal 360° mountain panoramas. Standing by the Vietnam flagpole at the summit is a moment you’ll never forget.
We descend partway before boarding the Fansipan Legend Cable Car – one of the world’s highest and longest – for a breathtaking 20-minute ride over Sapa’s valleys.
Once in Sapa Town, check into your hotel, refresh, and enjoy free time to wander the colourful hill tribe markets or relax at a café with mountain views.

Trekking Distance: ~3km | 2–3 hrs | Elevation gain: +334m, then descent by cable car
Day 4 – Sapa – Trek Lao Chai & Ta Van Villages – Homestay
After breakfast, we start our village-to-village trek through Sapa’s famous Muong Hoa Valley. Our route winds past rice terraces, bamboo groves, and small waterfalls, with opportunities to meet Black Hmong & Dzay villagers.
A picnic lunch is enjoyed amidst the fields before we reach Ta Van Village, where we stay in a traditional Dzay ethnic homestay. In the evening, enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal and stories around the table – a true cultural immersion.

Trekking Distance: ~12km | 5–6 hrs | Mostly downhill & flat terrain
Day 5 – Trek Giang Ta Chai – Sapa – Lao Cai – Overnight Train to Hanoi
After breakfast with your host family, continue trekking to Giang Ta Chai Village, home to the Red Dao tribe known for their bright red headscarves and intricate embroidery.
Visit a local waterfall, cross suspension bridges, and walk through lush forests before returning to Sapa Town. Enjoy free time to shop for handicrafts or savour a coffee before the evening transfer to Lao Cai station for your overnight train back to Hanoi.

Trekking Distance: ~8km | 3–4 hrs | Mixed terrain
Day 6 – Arrival in Hanoi – Departure
The train rolls into Hanoi around 5:00 AM. Your adventure officially ends here – but the memories of Fansipan’s summit, Sapa’s charm, and Diwali spent in the mountains will last a lifetime.
If you wish, you can extend your trip with optional tours to Halong Bay or Ninh Binh.
