TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: TOKYO – FUJINOMIYA 5TH STATION – MOUNTAIN HUT

Meals: As arranged
Accommodation: Mountain hut (shared facilities)

Meet your group and tour representatives at the designated meeting point in Shinjuku, Tokyo. After a briefing, board the arranged vehicle for the journey to Fujinomiya 5th Station, where you will meet the relevant climbing team and complete the necessary preparations.

Upon arrival, participants will undergo equipment checks, trail-entry procedures and time for initial acclimatisation. The guide will conduct a safety briefing covering the route, weather conditions, altitude awareness and climbing arrangements.

Begin the ascent along the Fujinomiya Trail, progressing steadily through rugged volcanic terrain, rocky slopes and mountain stations. The pace will be adjusted according to the group’s fitness, weather conditions and trail congestion.

Continue towards the reserved mountain hut, with priority given to securing accommodation near the upper stations, subject to availability and the group’s progress.

Upon arrival, check in, enjoy the arranged meal and rest in preparation for the following morning’s early departure.

Overnight: Mountain hut on Mt. Fuji.

Important: Mountain-hut allocation, arrival station and departure timing will depend on reservations, operating conditions, weather and the group’s progress.

DAY 2: MOUNTAIN HUT – MT. FUJI SUMMIT AREA – DESCENT – HOT SPRING – TOKYO

Meals: As arranged

Wake up early and prepare for the continuation of the climb. After a briefing from the guide, set out towards the summit area, allowing sufficient time for the ascent and possible sunrise viewing.

The opportunity to witness sunrise will depend on the weather, visibility, climbing progress and the guide’s safety assessment. Reaching the Fujinomiya Trail summit area does not automatically include reaching Kengamine, Japan’s highest geographical point at 3,776 m. Any additional summit-area or crater-rim excursion must be assessed separately and undertaken only if conditions, time and fitness permit.

Following the summit attempt, begin the descent along the Fujinomiya Trail. The route is steep and rocky, requiring careful footing and a controlled pace, particularly on loose gravel and uneven surfaces.

Upon reaching Fujinomiya 5th Station, regroup with the team and board the arranged vehicle.

Depending on the operating schedule and available time, proceed to a hot-spring facility for a relaxing bath and a chance to refresh after the climb. Bathing fees and facility arrangements will be confirmed in the final quotation.

Continue the journey back to Shinjuku, Tokyo, where the tour concludes.

End of SGTREK 2D1N Mt. Fuji Summit Adventure.

Return time may vary considerably due to climbing progress, weather, traffic and road conditions. Please avoid booking non-refundable flights or onward transport that depend on a guaranteed same-day arrival.

PACKING LIST

Climbing Equipment

In order to enjoy a safe hike to the summit of Mount Fuji, it is crucial to bring the proper equipment. Some of the most important things to bring are listed below:

Proper Shoes

The rocky, steep terrain in some sections and the potential for sudden, strong wind gusts are reasons to bring proper hiking shoes which protect your ankles.
Proper Clothes Bring proper protection against low temperatures and strong winds. It can be below zero at the summit, and strong winds often make it even colder. Bring rain gear, as weather conditions can change very quickly on the mountain. Gloves are recommended both against the cold and for hiking the steep, rocky passages.

Flashlight

If you hike at night, a flashlight is highly recommended in any season and essential outside of the peak season when the trail is not illuminated by other hikers. Most people choose head lamps, as they leave both of your hands free.

Food

It is important to bring enough water and food, particularly on the trails where there are several mountain huts along the way. Mountain huts offer various meals and drinks; however, note that prices increase with the altitude. Also, be prepared to carry home all your garbage as there are no public garbage bins on the mountain.

Money

Cash is necessary to buy provisions on the mountain such as water or canned oxygen and to use the toilets along the way. It is also important to carry should you need to seek emergency shelter in one of the mountain huts.

Hiking Stick (optional)

While not crucial, many hikers purchase wooden hiking sticks at the 5th Station to aid in their climb up the mountain.

IMPORTANT CLIMBING INFORMATION

  1. Climbing season

Mt. Fuji’s upper trails operate seasonally. The 2027 operating dates, entry procedures and applicable fees must be checked against the official announcements before departure. The tour will only operate when the selected route is officially open and the required arrangements are in place.

  1. Physical fitness

The Fujinomiya Trail is short compared with other routes but is steep and rocky. Participants must be comfortable with prolonged uphill trekking, high-altitude exertion and a sustained descent. Ordinary city walking alone is not sufficient preparation.

  1. Altitude and weather

Weather conditions can change rapidly on Mt. Fuji. Cold temperatures, strong winds, rain, poor visibility and altitude-related symptoms may affect the climb. Participants must follow the guide’s instructions and be prepared for a summit attempt to be shortened, modified or cancelled for safety reasons.

  1. Mountain-hut accommodation

Mountain huts provide basic high-altitude accommodation, generally in shared sleeping areas. Room arrangements, meals, facilities and the assigned station depend on availability and the final booking.

  1. Summit and sunrise arrangements

Sunrise viewing and reaching the summit are not guaranteed. The guide will determine the departure time, turnaround point and whether additional summit-area excursions are appropriate.

  1. Equipment and personal preparation

Participants must bring suitable hiking boots, warm layered clothing, waterproof outerwear, gloves, a headlamp, trekking poles, drinking water, snacks and other items specified in the final packing list. A suitable backpack and personal medication are essential.

  1. Travel insurance

Participants should arrange travel insurance that explicitly covers high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation where applicable. Coverage terms and exclusions should be checked before travel.

  1. Tokyo accommodation

Accommodation in Tokyo before or after the tour is not included unless specifically stated in the final quotation. Participants are responsible for arranging their own pre-tour and post-tour accommodation.

  1. Changes and cancellations

The itinerary may be modified due to weather, trail closures, transport disruptions, hut availability or safety considerations. Any cancellation, refund or additional-cost terms will be governed by SGTREK’s confirmed booking conditions and supplier policies.

Weather Conditions, Summit Safety & No-Refund Policy

The Mt. Fuji climbing experience is subject to prevailing weather conditions and mountain safety assessments on the day of the climb. The decision to proceed, modify, or terminate the summit attempt rests solely with the lead guide, based on weather conditions, trail safety, and the overall well-being of all participants.

If weather conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable for climbing, the guide reserves the right to cancel the summit attempt, alter the itinerary, or turn the group back to a safe location. All participants must strictly follow the guide’s instructions and prioritise safety at all times.

No Refund Policy: No refunds of the tour cost will be provided if the summit attempt is cancelled, shortened, modified, or abandoned due to adverse weather conditions, unsafe mountain conditions, or other circumstances affecting climbing safety. The inability to reach the summit does not constitute grounds for a refund, as the guide’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all participants.

By booking this tour, participants acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of mountain climbing, the possibility of weather-related itinerary changes, and the above no-refund conditions.
